If your site runs on Akamai, DataStream 2 streams the request logs from Akamai's edge for the properties you choose. That includes every crawler, AI assistant and agent, even the ones your bot rules turn away.
What you need
- Access to DataStream in Akamai Control Center
- Permission to edit the property's rules
- A Ghost Agent Lab site, which gives you its private ingest URL
How to connect it
- In Ghost Agent Lab, add your site and open Settings → Data sources → Akamai DataStream 2 to copy its ingest URL.
- In Akamai Control Center, open DataStream and create a stream for the properties that serve your site.
- Include
reqTimeSec,reqHost, reqMethod, reqPath, queryStr,statusCode, bytes,UA,cliIPandreferer, and choose the JSON log format. - Choose a Custom HTTPS destination with no authentication, paste the ingest URL, and turn on Send compressed data.
- Activate the stream, and turn on DataStream in the property's rules if it isn't already.
Privacy: IP addresses are hashed on arrival and query strings are dropped. People are counted, never stored. Keep the ingest URL private; you can replace it in Settings at any time.
What you get
- Every agent request at the edge, including ones Akamai blocked or challenged
- Which blocked requests came from genuine AI assistants
- Impostors claiming to be Googlebot or GPTBot
- Agent traffic, journeys and alerts within minutes
