If your site runs on Fastly, a real-time logging endpoint sends us a line for every request your service handles, including the crawlers, AI assistants and agents your rules turn away. It works with VCL services on any Fastly plan.
What you need
- Permission to edit and activate versions of the Fastly service
- A Ghost Agent Lab site, which gives you its private ingest URL
How to connect it
- In Ghost Agent Lab, add your site and open Settings → Data sources → Fastly real-time logs to copy its ingest URL and log format.
- In Fastly, open your service, clone the active version, and go to Logging → Create endpoint → HTTPS.
- Paste the ingest URL as the URL and the log format from Ghost Agent Lab as the Log format.
- Under advanced options, set Content type to
application/jsonand JSON log entry format to Newline delimited. - Create the endpoint and activate the new version. The Data sources page shows “Receiving events” as soon as the first logs arrive.
Privacy: IP addresses are hashed on arrival and query strings are dropped. People are counted, never stored. Keep the ingest URL private; you can replace it in Settings at any time.
What you get
- Every agent request at the edge, including ones Fastly blocked
- Which blocked requests came from genuine AI assistants
- Verification against each operator's published IP ranges
- Agent traffic, journeys and alerts within minutes
