Questions

What is llms.txt?

A short Markdown file at the root of your website, at /llms.txt, that tells AI assistants what your business does and which pages matter most. It's a proposed standard, described at llmstxt.org. Read our guide to llms.txt for the details.

Do AI assistants use it?

Some do, and more are starting to. It's cheap to publish and can't hurt: it's a plain file that nothing else on your site depends on. AgentScore gives it a small amount of credit, because it's a nice extra, not a must-have.

How is the draft made?

We read your home page the way a simple AI fetcher does, without running JavaScript, and take its title, description and main links, grouped into products, pricing, help, about and guides. It's a starting point: add a few sentences an assistant should know, like what makes you different, where you ship and how returns work.

Where do I put it?

Save it as llms.txt at the root of your site, so it opens at yoursite.com/llms.txt, served as plain text. On Shopify, WordPress and most site builders that means a redirect or a small plugin; your developer can do it in minutes.

Can it write the whole thing for me?

Ghost Agent Lab customers can have Claude read their home page and key pages and write a fuller draft, with the facts it assumed listed for review. It's on the Access policy page in the app.
