Agent readiness on WooCommerce

On WooCommerce you control almost everything an AI agent meets: your theme, plugins, caching, security tools and checkout settings. That's a lot of freedom, and a lot of places for agents to get stuck.

Checked against WooCommerce's documentation on October 26, 2026.

What the platform handles

  • A sitemap at /wp-sitemap.xml and a generated robots.txt
  • Product structured data as JSON-LD
  • A guest checkout setting
  • Block-based cart and checkout on new stores

What you control

  • Your theme and plugins
  • Caching and security plugins, and your host's firewall
  • Checkout and account settings
  • Site visibility (Coming soon mode, search engine visibility)

What to check

Site visibility

Check this

New stores start in Coming soon mode, and WordPress's "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" adds a noindex tag. Check WooCommerce › Settings › Site visibility says Live, and that the Reading setting is unticked.

robots.txt

Check this

WordPress generates robots.txt, and SEO plugins often take it over. Open /robots.txt and look for rules naming AI assistants; a plugin may have added them without anyone noticing.
