Agent readiness on WordPress

On a WordPress site that doesn't sell through WooCommerce, the plugins you've chosen decide most of what AI agents meet: SEO, security, caching, forms and page builders.

Checked against WordPress's documentation on October 26, 2026.

What the platform handles

  • A sitemap at /wp-sitemap.xml
  • A generated robots.txt
  • Pages built on the server, as HTML

What you control

  • Your SEO plugin: robots.txt, structured data, llms.txt
  • Security and caching plugins, and your host's firewall
  • Forms and their CAPTCHAs
  • Your theme or page builder

What to check

robots.txt

Check this

WordPress generates robots.txt; SEO plugins often take it over and some add AI crawler rules. Open /robots.txt and check AI assistants and AI search crawlers are allowed.

llms.txt

Usually fine

Some SEO plugins can generate one: Yoast SEO, for example, has an llms.txt option that keeps the file up to date.
